This is the relationship between fiancés Nate Dawson and Lauren Dawson.
Story[]
History[]
Lauren met Nate when she was in a rebelious stage of her life around her 16th birthday. Nate introduced her to another life outside of her private school and good upbringing. Lauren broke a lot of her family rules by drinking and smoking, and they both spend a lot of time together enjoying the lifestyle. When Lauren's parents seemingly gave up, Lauren transfered to Nate's school and they got even closer. Lauren felt better at the new school, and her transfering also affected Nate. When they began dating, Nate started attending class to be able to spend time with her. In 1934 they both graduated.
That NYE they attended a party at a warehouse when a terrible accident occured causing a fire in the warehouse. Dylan was able to pull them both out of the inferno, and he turned them into vampires. When she recovers at the Dawson residence Lauren seeks out Nate right away. When she doesn't get to see him, she leaves the house. When Lauren stumbles upon her family, she realises she has nothing left, assuming Nate has died.
When Nate reveals he is alive, and turned into a vampire just like her, the two latch on and didn't let go for a long time. Dylan gradually guided them through vampirism, and they explored their new strenghts and weaknesses together.
In the 1940's Lauren and Nate stay in the UK while Alyson and Dylan move back to the USA to meet up with James and Elisabeth. Lauren works as a typewriter and Nate runs a small underground club and is in a band. When Nate's bandmembers get killed in WWII they decide to leave London. They move around in Europe during the war, going from Portugal, Spain and later to Switserland before finally heading out to America as well.
Lauren works at a retail store in the 1960's while Nate works on the house and the defense of it. Lauren and Nate attend the funeral of Lauren's sister in 1982 incognito. Lauren goes through a rough patch when she realises everyone she ever knew is going to die, but Nate reminds her he will be there for her, forever.
Around the change of the millenium Lauren and Nate live in Chicago. While the other Dawsons live nearby, they live in a seperate small condo. Lauren works as a teacher while Nate owns a record store. When their time in Chigago runs out they agree to move along to Waterfall Creek, a place they both hadn't been before.
Season One[]
In Waterfall Creek, Lauren is delighted to live in a small town because it's usually easier to hunt. When they meet the Silverstone sisters, Lauren is delighted to meet new people who she doesn't have to hide from. Nate reminds her to be cautious, but shortly after he realises Lauren was right and this is the first chance they've gotten to make new friends who they didn't have to lie to. Nate and Lauren grow close friendships to Payton and Claire, because of that.
In the first season both of them develop a great urge to protect the two sisters as they feel responsible for their wellbeing. They start to act like their big brother and sister, which Payton and Claire sometimes find quite annoying. But Lauren and Nate mean well, so they let Lauren and Nate do whatever they feel is needed. This improves the relationship of Lauren and Nate, because they share the same beliefs and goals.
When they make a mistake with the security of the house (because they are doing other things at that moment) they let Julie and John in on the property. This almost gets Payton killed and Lauren and Nate feel very responsible for that. This makes their protectiveness over the two sisters only bigger as they feel the need to prove they are worthy of their friendship. Payton and Claire try to convince them that it's not necessary to protect them like that, but they do this anyway.
When Claire gets attacked by the end of season one they make a promise to each other to never let anybody ever hurt one of the sisters again. That night they have a deep conversation about what drives them in life and what vampirism has brought them. When the sun comes up Lauren and Nate have decided to devote their lives as vampires to protect the onces in need.
Season Two[]
When season two starts Lauren and Nate try to convince Payton to let them join her on her adventure to Portland. But when Jason decides to go with her they stay home in Waterfall Creek. As soon as Liam shows up to mess things up they focus their protection on Claire, because she is the one in need. When they find out that Jason and Payton are broken up due to Liam Miller they decide to go to Portland after all.
Here they discover that their romantic relationship has been off for a while and they decide to go back to just being there for each other. They still try to protect Payton in every way possible, but being away from the Dawsons and having some time for themselves is really doing them good. They start to reconnect and they spend more quality time together. Their time apart from the Dawsons is doing them good, because it gives them the time to figure their lives out. They find out what they want from each other and they start to make sense of what happened back when they were turned. This only makes their relationship closer.
When Payton gets injured Lauren and Nate start acting up again. They drop by every once in a while to check up on her and when she gets back together with Jason Nate is very scared that things might not work out so well as they all think. He is very worried about Payton and this drived Lauren mad sometimes. In this period they argue a lot about what they should do about their protectiveness over the sisters and eventually Lauren gives Nate an ultimatum. He has to settle down, or she will leave him. When he choses Lauren over his protectiveness they start working on their relationship again.
Season Three[]
In season three we learn more about the background of Nate and Lauren. We see them while they were human and we get to know them better as a person. It's an easy year for them as we see them getting closer and just having fun with each other. But this happiness turns ugly rather quickly when the Anconi decide to have an attack on the Dawsons. Nate killed one of them to protect the love of his life, but he doesn't know that it will cost them both just that. The Anconi kills Nate for wanting to protect the one that he loved most, which leaves Lauren broken. When the Anconi tries to kill Alena Lauren is the one to sacrifice herself to save the little girls life. She says that there is nothing left for her to live for and that she wants to join Nate wherever his is. }}
