Season Six[]
Laura and Carter met at the carnival during fall fest 2014.She was buying a ticket at the carrousel ride when he asked "How many?" "Two" she replied. And that might have been the number of people on the planet right that second. They shared a look, a smile and a touch all in 30 seconds. He didn't know what just happened when he watched her leave, but he knew he'd be stupid to let her go. "Excuse me." He said through the little window. "You forgot your change." He calls out. She turns around and walks back. Was she so clumsy? "Hold on sweetie." She said to her eager toddler. Well... she wasn't really a toddler anymore. She walked back in between the carrousel rides and smiles. "Did I.. Wait..." He can't help but smile back when he sees the blush on her cheecks, and the adorable smile on her face. "Well..." He doesn't say anything. He hands her the 5 dollar bill back, and nods. "Have a nice day." He then says, and she returns back to her child with a small frown.
That is how they met. And from there on, they had a thing for secret messages. And the 5 dollar bill, she still keeps in her picture album of that year. On it, was a series of numbers. She had barely noticed it when she was emptying her jeans that evening, untill her sister pointed it out. A smile immediatly came upon her face when she saw them. A phone number. She had texted him the same night. He confessed to letting her ride the carrousel for free. He told her it was because her daughter seemed very kind. She knew this was a sign. A guy that liked her daughter, and even more, enough to let them ride the carrousel for free... It took him several months to come forward about the true reason ; the child's beautiful mother. He didn't say this untill their 4th date, when he had also gotten to know about her kind and warm personality. Her values and her family... Her whole inner beauty too. That was when they kissed for the first time outside of her little house, with her daughter watching through the window and asking her frantically about the kiss the next morning. "Do you love him?" Was the first thing the child asked. She blushed, hiding away her smile. "Yes, baby. I think I do." Winter by this time had made it's way for spring,and summer came quickly after that. The three of them decided to take a trip to the park and that was where he convinced the most important opinionator, the 5 year old child, that he truely did care for her mother. He tried to convincer her by starting off with lunch. Then moving on to the aquarium, and ending up in the park, where they had a summerset picknik. When the little girl fell asleep leaning into him, he was convinced he was in the safe-zone. As he carried the child on the way back, he was told to wait in the livingroom while the child got put to bed.
When she returned, she had taken off her outdoor clothes and was left in a jeans and a regular top. Her make-up was gone, her hair was in a ponytail and he was... absolutely smitten by her. She pulled out some whine, poured in some glasses and they entertained eachother with stories of the past few years. She told him about her daughter and how she came to be, and he explained his job at a state fair and his family. And when a joke about the three of them being seen by the public as a lovely family ended in a long silence and a lot of stares, he for the first time feared they weren't going as well as he might have thought. That was all untill she kissed him, initiating the kiss this time, and they spend the rest of the night in eachother's arms. Kissing, cuddling and a lot of talking. A whole bottle of whine later he returned home and she tried not to squeel at how perfect he was, and how in love they were.
Following that, they both shared their relationship with their families, and had a summer filled with fun dates, visits, parties and kisses. Lots of kisses. She had no idea the next year, that he'd take her back to the very same carroussel. He placed her on one of the rides, her daughter sitting next to her and he spinned the carroussel around for a little while. When he got done, he sat down across from them and he pulled out a tiny little box. That was when he proposed to her, and that was when she said yes. Exactly one year after they had met, he gave her a beautiful ring, with the date of the year before ingraved in it.
They took their time preparing the most wonderfull wedding and planning their future. He upgraded his job from selling tickets to becoming an architect and developer, and she started out at a nursery school, being a teacher. And while he had found his dream job and his dream-wife, he didn't felt like their story was complete. When he bought the carroussel with his first paycheck, they owned a piece of their history. It filled the missing pieces in their out of the ordinary relationship. They basically did everything different already, so they figured they might add one more exceptional thing to their list. That is when they travelled across the globe and adopted little Penelope. Caitlin was thrilled with her baby sister. Just like it was natural, she called Carter Jenkins "daddy", her her father who loved her mommy Laura very much. As they showed their family and friends when they got married, shortly after in the background lighting of the same carrousel where they first laid eyes on eachother. Love at first sight.
