— Ariël expressing her struggles with understanding magic

Ariël Curtis is a recurring character in Touch of Magic. She is the older sister of Phoebe and Chloë Curtis and younger sister of Connor. She is dedicated to her studies, as she studies bio-chemics. Her best friend is Jacob Thompson.

She is a Curtis witch, just like her siblings, but has no active powers. This makes her part of The Curtis Family and a descendant from the Curtis Bloodline. She is a friend and ally of the Silverstone family.

Life[]

Early life[]

When Ariël was born her mother was thrilled with another daughter. Connor was a little jealous at first, but he started to see his sister as a cute new buddy to play with. Therefor, growing up, Ariël played with Connor a lot. They both played with cars a lot, but soon Connor started to like other toys. That was also the time her powers started to develop. However at the age of 5 they were removed by the elders. Ariël doesn't remember much about having powers, as her parents were very carefull with them. Soon she discovered that she liked reading a lot and she started to read books that weren't for her age yet.

In school Ariël was to smart for most of the things they were taught and she got bored very quickly. After she had skipped a year and went straight to high school, things started changing. She didn't have a lot friends in high school, but that did not bother her. She just wanted to learn new stuff and that was it. She never missed a friend. She had her siblings. She could do things that she actually liked and she could make it as hard as she wanted. Just before she graduated she got a scholarship for a very expensive study in bio-chemics, something she had always wanted to do.

Season Seven

When Chloë arrives for Phoebe's graduation, Phoebe is overjoyed. Chloë reveals she is graduating next year, a year early, as she was able to complete 2 classes during the summer. Ariël arrived along with Connor. When she learns of Chloë's relationship with a former vampire, she is anything but thrilled. She also feels like Chloë is throwing her life away for the guy, when she finds out Chloë dropped out of the cheerleader scholarship she had fought for so hard. Ariël notices this has caused tension between both her sisters and her mother, but she tries to stay out of it. She distracts herself by meeting up with PENN BADGLEY FC, her friend from jesus camp and catholic highschool. She finds out her mom is behind his sudden appearance in town, and fears for a proposal and an arranged marriage when he starts talking all sentimental about their childhood and being themselves with one another.

When he reveals it is not the case, she is relieved. He then tells her he is attracted to guys, but he is too afraid to tell his parents that he is gay because of their extreme chistian beliefs.

Her determination not to get involved ultimately forces her to leave town sooner then planned. Connor starts feeling the heat of his mother too.

Personality[]

Ariël is a girl who really wants to be the best at everything she does. She doesn't take no for an answer and she has a very strong opinion about probably everything. She doesn't like losing either. It makes her feel weak, like other people are smarter or stronger than she is. And she doesn't want that. But she has some good character traits too. She is very caring about the people that she loves. She will protect them at any cost and she would stick up for them no matter what she had to do for it. She can be a little tensed at times, but there are moments where she is able to loosen up more and really enjoy the company she is with.

Appearance[]

Ariël is a pretty good looking girl, with a heart shaped face and blonde hair. Her hair is usually mid-length and she wears it loose most of the time. After the death of her sister and being in a coma, she convinces Phoebe to help her to die it brown.

Her eyes are blue, but a darker shade. Like there is some grey in it too. She does wear make-up, but she usually wants it to be less visible. So she will always keep it neutral.

Her clothing style can be described as very neutral, some might say businesslike. Her shoes are comfortable heels most of the time, but she wears little boots too once in a while.
